Hi, Iam Adi from London. I have created this new topic on Ilayaraja, to bring awareness of his contribution to the telugu film industry. Iam looking forward for enjoyable and engaging discussions about his work and career throughout the 80's and early 90's. Interesting facts about his way of organising music and the orchestra, and how his listeners respond to his songs can be also discussed. Iam his ardent fan, therefore Iam keenly looking forward for some responses.

Nice to chat with "Laya raja" fan.
In the cine field Iliayaraja is my first choice. His compsitions are unique.
I donot now much abt Music, but the tunes by him really gives pleasure.

I had the good fortune of spending many weeks in close proximity with Ilaya Raja garu.

I was the Associate Director for a Hindi feature (yet to be released) for which Ilayaraja garu composed the Music and I was the one who had to be with him during the recording of all the songs.

I used to reach Prasad studios early morning and raja sir as we call him used to come there on the dot. Then the work used to start.

Initially I used to get tense sitting in front of him all day but slowly, I started the see the totally warm side of raja sir. Whenever I used to sit outside, he used to send a word with Subbaih (his manager) to call me inside the studio.

He then used to make me listen to a music bit and ask me how is it....Imagine a legend asking you that!! As you guessed, the only words that came out of my mouth were "super, sir!" !!!

Once he wanted me to write a script and even narrated the idea to me. I did start the work on the script but sadly, I had to go back to Mumbai suddenly and could not complete that work. I hope I can start the work on it again as it's a great and epic subject.

I met Karthik Raja a few times when he came to Mumbai and went out for dinner etc but lately have not been in touch with him either. This topic reminds me to send him an email Wink

BTW, did you receive the songs of SPK yet? Our DB member, Santharam must have sent you the CD.
