| In Missamma, not a single song sung by Ghantasala. Was there any cause? But in the movie some of the background tunes were used which were originally composed by Ghantasala garu ( Patalabhairavi ). |

One of that movie's producers, Chakrapani (Nagi Reddi used to look after the movie business matters and Chakrapani used to look after all movie making issues) had an ego conflict with Ghantasala and the Vijaya pictures decided to bring in AM Raja as an alternative for this movie. I guess they patched up with Ghantasala right after this movie. |

There is another episode associated with Missamma which falls on similar lines.
We do acknowledge the contribution of Chakrapani to the Telugu movies and Telugu literature by making the writings of Sarathchandra Chaterjee popular in our movies. However, as Chimata Srinivasa Rao has rightly pointed out, Chakrapani was very rude and had an inflated ego and had the habit of underrating even great artistes. The classic examples are Ghantasala and Bhanumathi. He hunted for an alternative to Ghantasala and found A.M.Raja.
He replaced Bhanumathi with Savithri in Missamma even after 30% of the movie was shot on Bhanumathi. The reason for this humiliation meted to a great artist like Bhanumathi was that she was late to shooting by a few minutes, and even further she refused to apologize to Chakrapani.
